A fort of their own

What is better than a blanket fort?

There is something magical for children about a little blanket fort. They love creating them and then lounging inside.

Why not join them today?

Grab a bunch of blankets, some pillows to lean against (if you have an aching back like I do), perhaps a comforter for the floor.

Get a few good story books and to make it seem more special assemble a little snack tray, crackers, sliced cheese, raw vegetables.

Then settle in, read, and relax together. Today is the day to enjoy the moment.

Can we come over and hang out in your fort too? Sounds like fun.

My eldest always creates these massive edifices which take up half the room and involve most of the furniture. Too much fun!

How fun! I never thought of doing this with my 4 year old, which is kinda stupid when you think about it. We’ll try it soon! I’m sure she’ll love it. Thanks for all your advice, you rockin’ mom you.

When I was a child my mom would put a blanket from the top of our upright piano and out and over the bench….it was very cosy and roomy.

We’ve been making forts all month! I am so glad I visited your site this month, I have tried several of your ideas, and my kids always love them. I appreciate the creativity, and I’m telling all my friends!

when i was a kid we read “watership down” then built extensive rabbit holes and warrens using blankets and couch cushions. It was great fun and i’m glad my mom let us mess up the living room :-)

Sheets, chairs and cushions are always a hit to make tents in our house. They always want to sleep the night there too, but there are limits to the comfiness of our living room floor!

My kids love to build forts, but the youngest two (1 and 3) always knock it down. I got them the Cranium Super Fort for Christmas; they all love it. And it cleans up easily!
